Darkest Day Films is an independent UK production company focused on creating distinctive, story-driven genre cinema with a strong visual identity and an international audience in mind.

Our first feature film project, DORIS, builds upon an established body of original intellectual property. The story began as an award-winning short film, went on to inspire the published novel Doris, and is now being developed as a full-length psychological horror feature.

This journey from short film to novel and now feature film reflects the wider vision behind Darkest Day Films: to develop compelling original ideas into enduring properties with the potential to reach audiences across film, publishing and other media.

DORIS represents the beginning of that ambition.

Combining psychological horror, period storytelling and a deeply unsettling central character, the film is being developed as an independent British production with an emphasis on atmosphere, performance and carefully controlled production values.

As the project moves through pre-production, Darkest Day Films is seeking to build relationships with investors, production partners and industry professionals who share our belief in distinctive independent cinema and the commercial potential of powerful, original genre storytelling.
